Welcome to Alphabet Farm
Alphabet Farm is an alphabet game for toddlers ages 2-4 for learning capital and lowercase letters as well as letter sounds. The game starts with planting a field of letters, then proceeds to watering those planted letters, and finally harvesting the letters. Once the field is cleared, new letters are selected and it starts over.
I designed the playing field on purpose to have a limited number of choices to avoid having the toddler being overwhelmed with choices and end up just button mashing on every letter without considering them at all. I designed the audio feedback to not reward mistakes and click spamming letters. Every correct click gets some positive feedback and every incorrect click encourages them to try again in a muted encouraging way.
Planting the Letters
When you plant the letters, the seed packet is whisked into the air and an assortment of seeds shake out of it into the ground. A sign then pops into the ground to show where you planted the letter.
Growing the Letters
When you water the letter seeds, a great watering can appears out of the sky and pours water onto where the seeds were planted and a letter and it's plant grows from the ground.
Harvesting the Letters
When you harvest the letters, the plants are slashed and tossed into the air, a basket sweeps in, and the letter is placed into the basket. The letter is then whisked off screen. Once all the letters are harvested, you find out how many stars you earned.
